Hi there!

First of all, welcome to this blog. My name is Gabriela and I’m mum to Diego and we follow a plant-based vegan diet and lifestyle. In here I will share with you my experiences raising a plant-based vegan, funny and friendly toddler, why it all started and how we thrive since Diego and I embarked on this journey.

When Diego was 3 and a half months old, he developed very severe eczema which affected his legs, arms and face. I can clearly remember seeing different doctors almost every 15 days and each doctor would give us a different treatment. We tried so many creams, most of them with steroids, and to be honest we tried our best to follow the treatment as prescribed, hoping for an improvement. I also remember asking a doctor whether I should change my diet and therefore Diego’s diet (I was breastfeeding exclusively at this time), but the doctor’s advice was “keep eating what you are eating”.

I was already vegetarian back then (still eating dairy and eggs) and was interested in the benefits of following a vegan diet as I have always been passionate about health, nutrition and animal welfare, but I guess I just needed a strong enough reason to become fully vegan and there it was! I introduced solid food to Diego as advised at 6 months old, but it wasn’t until we transitioned from a vegetarian to a vegan diet when Diego was 9 months old that we experienced a huge improvement. We haven’t looked back since.

Fortunately, as there are so many resources and reliable information available out there now, it made our journey towards a vegan lifestyle easier, fun and delicious. With this blog we aim to be a source of inspiration and support to mums, dads and anyone else that wants a more green and healthy lifestyle for themselves and their families.

I believe that the earlier kids get exposed to healthy nourishing food the better, but it is never too late. As a mum I know how much we care about our little one’s diet, because we want the best and we want them to eat nutritious food to support their development in the best possible way. However, it is not always easy to get them to eat as we wish and meal time ends up being a challenge, with most food being thrown on the floor. That’s why I want to share with you nourishing, plant-rich meal ideas that are above all delicious and gluten, dairy, egg and refined sugar free. They are also easy and quick to cook.

I also believe it is very important to engage toddlers and kids at an early age in ‘practical life’ activities and cooking is definitely one of them. Cooking and baking is indeed a sensory experience that awakens curiosity in a child. Cooking can also be a good way to explore new foods and therefore new flavors and textures. I am very happy to share with you and your little ones a fun learning experience at Keeping it Delicious cooking workshops!

I have also created super-food rich smoothies that are hand made, using 100% organic ingredients, fresh to order. Every smoothie will be made by hand -not factory- in small quantities for better quality and they are packed with essential fats (such as hemp seeds), high quality super-food powders (like spirulina and lucuma), antioxidants and fibre.

You might be wondering why smoothies? – smoothies are your best ally when you want your kids to eat more fruits and vegetables. As I said before, they are packed with goodness and they taste delicious. Obviously, you have to choose the best natural organic ingredients to put in them. When it comes to adults, smoothies are very versatile, filling and nourishing which makes them your ultimate gateway towards a more healthy eating style. They are also great for cleansing. Hope you enjoy it!
